China Denies Subsidized Exports Of Brand-Name Products

Last week, the United States accused China of providing export subsidies to some famous brand products at the World Trade Organization (WTO), but China denied this on Tuesday.

The United States began taking legal action at WTO on Friday to stop the Chinese government from providing export subsidies.

The office of the United States trade representative said that subsidies have benefited many industrial sectors in China, including household appliances, textiles and clothing, a range of light industry sectors, agricultural products and foodstuffs, metal products and chemicals, pharmaceuticals and health products.

It also mentioned that subsidies include export cash incentives, preferential loans to exporters and cost subsidies for export credit insurance.

But the Xinhua news agency quoted the speech by Hui Bo Yang, deputy director of quality control department of China Quality Inspection Administration, saying that this is not the case.

"Some local governments have actually rewarded the enterprises named" China brand ", but this award is only one-off, symbolic, and does not offer any long-term policy preferences to these" Chinese brands ", he said.

He said that the export tax rebate is an open policy and has a unified yardstick. A company will not get such preferential policies because it is "China's famous brand".

China's Ministry of Commerce said on the weekend that China respected the WTO regulations and opposed trade protectionism and would deal with the event through WTO.
