India's business standard reported on March 2nd that small and medium-sized traditional embroidery enterprises in Lucknow called on the government to take measures to prohibit the import of Chinese embroidered garments, claiming that the protection of India's traditional industry is imminent.

Over the past two years, the India market has been flooded with Chinese made embroidery products. The style is novel and the price is low. It brings great impact to traditional embroidery products, such as manual operation, high cost and low efficiency of India.

India manufacturers complain that it is difficult for consumers to distinguish the difference between Chinese embroidery and traditional handmade embroidery in India. Merchants are also selling cheap Chinese products, which has resulted in hundreds of people losing their jobs and urged the government to ban the import of Chinese embroidered clothing as prohibited by toy imports.

The chairman of Lucknow's Uttar Pradesh silk and handicraft products Promotion Council supports restrictions on Chinese products.

He complained that governments at all levels in India did not attach enough importance to small and medium silk and embroidery enterprises.
