In the opening ceremony of the annual cotton trade fair in Central Asian countries, Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyayev said that the cotton harvest in Uzbekistan was high and he expected cotton exports to amount to $500 million.


Ukraine plans to reduce exports of raw cotton, aimed at promoting domestic cotton processing industry, the Ukrainian plan to increase the proportion of cotton processing to 70% of output by 2015.


Compared with other cotton exporting countries, the market situation in Uzbekistan is very good this year because the output of other countries is declining.

China, Bangladesh, Iran, Pakistan and Russia are the main importers of cotton in the Ukrainian countries.

Ukraine ranked the sixth largest cotton producer in the world.

The average output of raw cotton is about 3 million 500 thousand tons.

The government of Bangladesh plans to import cotton from India and Uzbekistan to the problems arising from the sharp rise in cotton prices in the global and domestic markets, the commerce minister said.


The import of cotton from India, the world's second largest cotton producer, will be discussed at the commerce minister's visit to India this month, a statement from the Ministry of Commerce said.


The Bangladesh government has also taken consultations to buy cotton from Uzbekistan, and Uzbekistan is another major cotton producer.
