Consumer Product Safety In Singapore

Recently, Singapore promulgated the "consumer protection (consumer goods safety requirements) draft law 2011", the control of consumer goods range from the original 45 to 15000, and came into effect in April 1, 2011.

Including: Children's toys, baby products, power tools,

And clothing, sports and entertainment supplies, clothing accessories, etc.

Commodity suppliers must ensure that their products meet the safety standards of the international organization for Standardization (ISO), ASTM international and the European Standardization Committee.

If consumer goods are deemed to be unsafe or inconsistent with international safety standards, the Singapore standard, productivity and Innovation Committee (SPRING) can remove or prohibit the sale of products. Retailers and suppliers will also face a fine of 10000 yuan or a maximum of two years' imprisonment.

Singapore is China's largest economic and trade partner in Southeast Asia, and the volume of trade is increasing year by year.

With the completion of the China ASEAN Free Trade Area in January 1, 2010, China and ASEAN countries have gradually opened trade markets to each other, and over 90% of their trade tariffs have dropped to zero.

The gradual elimination of tariff barriers has promoted the investment and trade opportunities between China and Singapore, and also for Ningbo.

foreign trade

Enterprises have created rare business opportunities.

Light industrial products such as mechanical and electrical products, clothing and textile products, toys and so on are of low cost and good quality and low price. They have always been Ningbo's export advantage commodities. In 2010, Ningbo exported to Singapore clothing textiles, mechanical and electrical products and light industrial products reached 47 million US dollars, 24 million US dollars and 1 million 700 thousand US dollars respectively.

However, many years of research also show that international trade will further highlight the problem of technical measures while breaking barriers.

Therefore, the inspection and quarantine organ reminds that whether the product is exported or domestic, it is necessary to follow the first principle of consumer safety, improve product quality, strictly control material selection, process, production, inspection and so on, and export products must comply with the requirements of importing countries to ensure that products meet the requirements of ISO, ASTM and European Standardization.

In addition, on the basis of ensuring product quality, we should attach more importance to brand building and after-sales service, and further enhance the visibility and credibility of products.
